I know this work, and it's kind of intriguing. The expressions on these girls faces are iconic. I think it really captures those moments when kids try to act adult but overplay or exaggerate an emotion or the reaction to something - and t does it twice. The body proportions are also exaggerated in a way that reminds me of Rodin or Picasso's Classical Period. That's a tricky line to walk but it's spot-on and the altered proportions are perfect. The effect really makes the whole thing work. The collage adds a layer of complexity, visual depth and richness that makes me wonder if the text was chosen intentionally to compliment the composition. I'm guessing it was. I really like this work. I wonder why those girls are so grumpy.
